May 2025

Oh, sweet summer

The spring semester is over in a week. I’ve taken Bella out a handful of times already. Trixie and I have started hiking more regularly. A few weeks ago, I spent a Saturday building a platform in my extended cab for her to be more comfortable, and it came out pretty decent. She now has a way of laying down in the back, or standing up and putting her front paws on the center console, where her face is even with my own. She gets excited each time I open that back door for her.

I just realized that summer has become my favorite season, where it used to be my least. It’s an interesting shift. There is such a simple joy on a bike ride, summer music vibes in my helmet and the sun beating down on bare shoulders. I am content and happy with the sun out. The long days, the simple beauty of open roads and hikes, which I now share with my little lady Trixie. Simple joys.

February 2025

It’s mid-February as I write this, and western Massachusetts, where I live, is in the midst of a snowstorm, forecasted to drop a foot of the white stuff. I just finished making risotto–not my best, not my worst–and am watching The Congress. Trixie, my newly adopted nine-year-old cattle dog mix, is sleeping to my left, and a lowball glass of Basil Hayden on my right.

The spring semester at HES is in full swing, and I’m taking Mindfulness, AI, and Ethics and Intro to Acting II. How I love being an adult student.

It’s silly to write this, but I am currently wintering. In the warmer months, I am often out every night, with friends or attending events or riding Bella, my motorcycle. This winter, however, I have burrowed in, sought a slower pace. Still enjoying the liminality of my life, though now that our current administration is in power, I have decided to stay put here in western Mass, one of the reasons Trixie and I are a little family.

Pure love, man. Pure love.

This site has been redesigned, yet again (it’s a slight addiction, playing around with this site). I’ve added writings from years ago, realizing that the earlier writings are helpful in tracking my journey and recognizing the changes. I am still going through the old posts, updating them to this new format.
